Listen to Jack White on iHeartRadio

Jack White may be headquartered in Nashville these days, but he hasn't forgotten about his hometown.  The Detroit-born rocker was recently unveiled as the anonymous donor who saved the Motor City's Masonic Temple by paying the venue's $142,000 balance in back taxes.

According to the "Detroit Free Press," the Masonic Temple would have gone into foreclosure if the sum hadn't been paid before June 3rd.  Detroit Masonic Temple Association President Roger Sobran says they're eternally grateful to White.  And as a means of showing that gratitude, Sobran says they plan to rename one of the Masonic's two theaters the Jack White Theater.

According to, White has played the Masonic Temple nine times throughout his career, and his mother once worked at the historic venue as an usher.
