Temple of the Dog had a hit on their hands in 1991 with their song "Say Hello 2 Heaven" off their self-titled and only record. Chris Cornell wrote the track as a tribute to his roommate, Mother Love Bone vocalist Andrew Wood, who died of a heroin overdose.
In the studio version of the song, Cornell's emotion comes through in the lyrics and his voice, but check out how raw his feelings are and how strong his singing is when you hear his isolated vocals from the track.
Last year, the band released a 25th anniversary edition of their sole album. Learn more about it here.
