Damon Albarn's first official single as a solo artist has arrived. The Blur frontman unveiled the title track to his upcoming album Everyday Robots on Monday.
Albarn tells "Rolling Stone" that the new record -- which is due out April 29th -- features a wide range of influences.
The track "Mr. Tembo," for example, began as a song he sang to a baby elephant of the same name during a trip to Tanzania. Albarn says it was a sweet moment between himself and the recently-orphaned animal, but he never imagined it would end up on an album. He explains that it was the project's "editor," Richard Russell, who encouraged him to turn the impromptu tune into something more.
As for Mr. Tembo's review, Albarn says the elephant simply did his business after he sang the song.
