Listen to Switchfoot on iHeartRadio

A surfing accident has dampened Switchfoot's album release festivities.

Frontman Jon Foreman suffered an injury to his face while catching a few waves Monday, and has been forced to spend some time on the sidelines.

The rockers were scheduled to play a hometown concert in San Diego Wednesday in honor of their latest studio effort Fading West, which hit stores on Tuesday.  The gig has been rescheduled for February 3rd.  But anyone with tickets for the original show can still stop by the venue, where the band members will be signing copies of Fading West and hanging out with fans.

In addition to the new Fading West album, Switchfoot also recently released a "Fading West" film that showed them visiting some of their favorite surfing destinations around the world.

Foreman says its "more than a bit ironic" that he spent all that time surfing challenging waves all over the globe only to hurt himself in his own backyard.  But he says the injury could have been much worse, so he's just thankful that he's relatively okay.
