Savages' Jehnny Beth Drops New 'Peaky Blinders' Track 'I'm The Man'

Savages' Jehnny Beth flips the script on gender with the release of her new song "I'm The Man," which was featured on the most recent season of BBC One's Peaky Blinders.

The track, which dropped on Friday (November 8), hears the French vocalist lean into her ferocious side with the intent to make you feel. "I'm the man/ The one you hate/ Don't you understand?/ He's like me, the man," she commands atop the industrial production. "I'm The Man" was featured on the fourth episode of the current season in September. The track, which was worked on with her longtime producer Johnny Hostile, was selected by series director-writer Anthony Byrne. Among the other cuts on the soundtrack, which is due on November 15, include PJ Harvey's cover of Nick Cave’s "Red Right Hand" and songs from The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys and David Bowie.

"'I'm The Man' is an attempted study on humankind, what we define as evil and the inner conflict of morality," Beth said in a statement. "Because it is much easier to label the people who are clearly tormented by obsessions as monsters than to discern the universal human background which is visible behind them. However, this song has not even a remote connection with a sociological study, collective psychology, or present politics; It is a poetic work first and foremost. Its aim is to make you feel, not think."
